Abstract
English Abstract:The goal of this thesis was the assessment of Ecosystem Services of the forest in Estancia Santa Lucia in the region of Neuquén in Argentina. The Estancia is divided by a populated valley and reforested with Pinus species, the majority of North American origin. The increasing density of settlements led to the question of the expectations of the stakeholders towards the forest. A scheme was developed to assess the productivity, protection against rock fall and erosion, naturalness and habitat suitability for deer in the forest stands of the Estancia. Therefor, the forest first was divided into homogeneous units, mapped and digitized. As not every stand fulfills the same or all of the Ecosystem services, the services were assigned to the stands and a matrix was created to select representative stands for further examinations. The reference values for the fulfillment of services were taken from literature respectively created by means of indicators. The data acquisition was performed by comprehensive inventory of the selected stands. The gained data was used for calculation of the indicators. The assessment revealed that the productivity of Pinus spp. is higher than in comparable stocks in North America, despite the young age. The degree of protection against rock fall varied from ideal to insufficient depending on the diameter distribution in the individual stands. The positive impact towards curbing erosion and surface runoff could be detected, whereas the naturalness and the suitability as a habitat for deer as average can to be regarded as poor. Based on these results the demand for action can be derived.
