Abstract |
Abstract in Englisch: | Forests bid via the process of photosynthesis more carbon per year then emitted from fossil fuels. Thus forests act as huge carbon sinks. Because of the high productivity and the high amount of stocked carbon especially tropical forests play an important role relative to the reduction of emissions of carbon dioxid and the carbon trade. According to this an exploited and a sustainable treated natural forest site in Gabon, Central Africa, were researched. The central question of this thesis was how the two different methods of forest management affect the general stand conditions, the soil and the carbon storage. It could be shown that the basal area with 49m²/ha, the volume of 710 solid cubic meter per hectar and the carbon content of 194t/ha of the sustainable treated forest site was higher than those of the exploited forest site. Furthermore the carbon content with 150t/ha and the nitrogen content with 12t/ha of the soil till to the deepth of 1m of the sustainable site were also higher than those of the exploited one. According to the results of this work it can be shown that with a sustainable forst management it can be done a valueable contribution to the reduction of emissions of carbon dioxid. |
