Abstract |
Abstract in Englisch: | The aim of this master thesis was to prepare historical distribution maps for grayling, minnow and chub as indicator species for river morphological conditions and water pollution using a Geographical Information System (GIS). With the help of this program it is possible to intersect the distribution maps with abiotic data.
The main objectives and tasks were: • To collect and organise the data on the historical distribution of the three species grayling, minnow and chub • To compare the historical and the present distribution • To analyse the presence and absence with respect to abiotic parameters • To calculate the probable distribution based of an analysis of historical distribution and abiotic data • To transfer the results into GIS and analysis with the program SPSS
Historical information was used as main data to describe the distribution of the three fish species. However historical information on species is mostly incomplete. With the help of models of the historical distribution and abiotic data it is possible to show the potential distribution. For the visualisation and analysis of the data the software ESRI ArcGis 9.0 was used. The statistical analysis was done in SPSS 16.0.
The abiotic parameters, which were used, are the average air temperature in August and throughout the year, the slope and the altitude and as biotic parameter the fish region.
The comparison between historical and actual distribution shows for grayling surprisingly a similar result. Within the scope of this thesis more detailed analyses of possible influences of stocking or stock density were not foreseen. The chub and the minnow show a clear decrease in the present distribution. |
