| Abstract in Englisch: | The anaerobic fermentation as a source of renewable energy is in great demand. In Austria, the grassland management is of great importance, because 6-7 mio. tons of dry matter are growing on around 2,0 million ha grassland acreage every year; 30 % are used as green forage, 27 % are used as hay and 43 % are used as silage (vgl. RESCH et al., 2006, 2). Grassland plays an important role not only for fodder production, but also the energy production of biogas is increasing. The theme of this diploma thesis is to give an insight on biogas production out of biomass from grassland depending on nutrient and energy content and to provide appropriate research results which are not available in Austria up to now. This thesis shows which locations of grassland systems (extensive/intensive) and which kind of conservation (wet silage, pre-wilted silage or haylage) is particularly suitable for production of biogas. As an assessment criterion the yield of biomass, the specific methane production as well as the methane yield per hectare and the time of harvest are taken into account, where the specific methane production is calculated with the methane energy value model on basis of the ingredients of the grass silage. Out of these research results, following facts are obtained with respect to the optimum location of the grassland, the optimum intensity of use and the optimum kind of harvest: The specific methane yield of the intensively managed area with max. 345 [lN/kg oTS] is higher compared to the low input with max. 309 [lN/kg oTS]. The kind of harvest of the wet silage shows the highest yield of methane production with maximum 345 [lN/kg oTS] followed by the pre-wilted silage and the haylage. The highest yield of methane production per hectare is obtained from of intensively used grassland with four cuts conserved as wet silage as the appropriate kind of harvest. This location also gives the highest yield on biomass production with 81,55 dt/ha.
